ULTIMATE Pattern Haul

Updated: Jul 9, 2023

Summer is upon folks and whilst my pattern collection is of a quite considerable size, here are a few I couldn't resist picking up during some recent pattern sales.

BUTTERICK

B6939 - An AUTHENTIC reproduction, which to my understanding is a fairly new form of repro’s from the Big 4. I like it, it comes with the original instructions and cutting layouts which is especially cool because it has the techniques that are authentic to that time period. I picked this one up for the playsuit.

B6946 - Is a shirt and trouser shorts combo. Both of which I’ve been on the hunt for for a while now. I struggle with finding the proper relaxed fitted trouser shorts because I have quite the bum (baby got back). I’m pretty hopeful about this one however because it seems Butterick’s key demographic is a more developed woman, that’s just my personal opinion though..

SIMPLICITY

S9780 - This dress SCREAMS, I’m chic and I’m on my way to a Sunday brunch. Like do the people over at simplicity have my number or what?! Make no mistake, it’s a smock dress but a smock dress with a bit of spice. And spice, my friends, is what we all need in this life.

S9784 - Serving us with a bit of back out action! I picked this one up thinking it was a woven pattern, it is not. However, I still have every intention of making it with a woven fabric. My workaround will be to size up to gain the positive ease needed to make it fit me comfortably.

S9791- This pattern is giving me summer picnic vibes. It also reminds me of a pattern I’ve had saved on my Pinterest boards for a while now. It’s quite the interesting play on your traditional gathered skirt. The curved waistband gives a bit of new interest to a well known silhouette.

S8546 - I see this as the ultimate linen summer dress/duster - a two for one’er. This pattern was released in 2019 but the style is just classic, this if done right could be a staple in my closet for YEARS to come.

S9134 - I imagine myself wearing this dress while hanging my laundry to dry on a breezy summer day. We all got out fantasies right, LOL! In all seriousness, the dress is unique and paired with the right fabric could turn out to be something special.

VOGUE PATTERNS

V1957 - Is a skirt pattern that seems to be heavily inspired by a look from Alexander McQueen (see video). That is both the beginning and the end of why I bought this pattern - I WANT THAT LOOK.

V1961 - This pattern was purchased because it reminds me of a look from fashion house ERDEM SS 23. While it’s not a dead ringer for the inspiration picture, it is a more wearable version of the vision. I’m on the fence about the bralette top as it’s a bit too revealing for me, so I may swap it out for another bustier style top.

V1945 - is inspired by the Theirry Mugler leggings. I love that they give it to us here also in a solid print which is far more true to my aesthetic.

V1893 - I’ve been on the fence about this one for literally a year now! I like that it’s a soft bustier style top and ultimately that’s what sealed the deal on this one for me.
